finished one, started one

I just can't seem to be able to live without an UFO or a current project, it's just not possible. I begin to feel uneasy and bored if I don't have something to knit, even if I don't have the time to actually knit. I guess that's what you call addiction!

What I finished? The one skein wonder out of the yarn from my SP!

It's wonderfull and fast and I would knit another Shrug, but...
...I already have done so! Yes, I began another shrug, moments after i finished the pink one...guilt? maybe, just a tiny bit of it though. It's made of some dark navy blue yarn I brought a while ago. No pic of it, cause I can't find it now.

Well, after two shrugs, I thought it was time to finally knit a "real" garment(the blue ribbon cardigan?...dead and going to be frogged, looks stupid on me and is not really my style, what ever that is;-) ).
Remember my honeymoon cami ? Well, I'm going to knit a cardigan out of the left-over yarn. I have over 1 kg of it "left". But this time I'm following a pattern and I'm so NOT going to try to make my own. I don't feel like knit-frog-knit-frog-knit-... at the moment. I want to finish something without numerous frogging.

my patterns

Just a quick note to let you know that my free patterns are currently down.
I ran out of bandwidth due to people linking directly to the pdf-files.
They will be back up next week or so.

Edit:
I'm now linking to the posts with pictures and pattern on the side bar. Pdf-files will be available in a week or two.
Duh, finally found a good AND free programm to convert to pdf-files. The previous once were just to big! Have to learn for another test, so this may take a lil' time.

HP...or not?

What was the first thing after my test? Right, I "flew" home in order to start reading HP6. I swear this book has called my name ever since I brought it to lure me into reading it instead of learning. Everything was arranged, two bottles of water, sweets, cigarettes, so I wouldn't have to stand up while I'm reading.
Guess how annoyed I was when my mum knocked at my door just after the first chapter! Hadn't I said nobody was to disturb me the next few hours?
Well, before I could shout any rude words, I saw two packages in her hand. The first one was the RoundRobin bag, but I can't tell you much of it or show a pic for some time. But I can say that it's awesome! I feel a bit embarrassed for the bags I contributed too.

However I'm definately allowed to tell you something about the second package that arrived. It's from my SP and it's... wonderfull!
Pink(pink!!!) velour like yarn(actually called Velour) from GGH, together with the instructions for the one-skein-wonder! I just had to make a swatch right away :-)
And an organizer for the crafty stuff all of us need to carry around all the time! Really handy!
Plus bamboo handles! And *drumroll* wonderwoman tissue!

SP package-THANKS!

P.S.: Of course I finished HP today.

My head hurts...

...too much to learn, not enough space in head! Honestly, I don't think it's too much too learn, if you begin early enough...if...
Anyway, I feel quite confident about the test. I can do all the basic stuff, but proving things-oh excuse me , I meant thesis- is too hard for me.

In kni..crochet news, I've finished the 16 squares and only need to sew them together, but that has to wait untill thursday. I also began a reggae-colored version for my mum's birthday.

Why I have to wait untill thursday? Because Wendnesday after the test I'll be reading HP6!!! Brought it yesterday, even for less than the Amazon price.

Good and bad

Good 1:
We finally got our package from Junghanswolle. Let's just say there was more than the problem described before...
Good, because I could finally start my second bag. I can't decide which colors to use though...
finally

Good 2:
I've finished sewing and stuffing the monster. I think I'll call him Mr.Bubblehead, but I don't like the german translation of it(Herr Seifenblasenkopf), do you think my cousin is too young to learn english ;-)
Monster ALARM!!!

Good 3:
I managed to block my Branching out and it's lovely. I now feel confident enouh to try a big shawl...if only I had the yarn for it! I saw a really greate bargain for Rowan Kidsilk haze on ebay UK, but it would be around 30€ for a shawl nevertheless.
BO

Good or Bad?:
Last week I got some turqois ribbon yarn from my mum, enough to make a sweater or cardigan. But I couldn't find a pattern I liked that was easy enough to carry it around with me on my way to campus. So I made up my own!
Well, I've finished both front parts and the back and I'm not sure if i really like it. Surely it needs some blocking too and it's hard to tell from the pic below since I'm not wearing it, but how do you like it?
my mum thinks it's great, but I'm not that sure if she's honest with me...normally she sais when she thinks something looks awfull on me...
???

definately Bad:
I ordered some wool roving via Ebay and this just proofs that you've better use your brain! I mean it was cheap, what did I expect? The description said it was suitable for felting, stuffing toys AND spinning. Now, it might be good for the first two, but NOT for spinning. The fibers are a bit curly and much too short. Even without dropping my spindle it broke! I'll try to reach the seller later and we'll see what that will bring...
crappy crap

Good 4:
I have the apartment for my self in the morning till noon. Why? Well, mum and dad at work and my brother goes to work with my dad!
This is not just so he gets some money(that's what he thinks :-)), no, it's to motivate him to get better at school. My dad works in some kind of construction(don't know the right term) and my parents(aka my mum) hope that my brother will see that he doesn't want to have a kind of job like that himself. I don't think that will motivate him, but let's see how it goes!

getting crafty again

I've neglected my crafty tools for the last few month in favor of knitting. I received a large selection of crafty things for christmas that I never used untill yesterday. These included a hot glue gun and some boxes.
That cheapo gun really is a bitch! First it refuses to give away any glue and than it doesn't stop even if you're not pressing it anymore!
Therefore this box was done in a complete hurry and arranging the flowers was nearly impossible...
hot glue

On saturday I had been to the craft store for no particular reason and stopped in front of the Fimo rack. Caught me thinking about making my own beads, but from childhood experiences(think half baked, blackspotted, pink fimo) I went for the air-dry clay. Here's my "beads" and pieces. Can you see the sheep?[No, honestly it's a sheep!]
"beads"

And now, my latest kniting project, a knitted monster! It isn't complete yet as you can see, but quite fun to make. I hadn't any idea what I wanted to do, so I just started knitting and made it up as I went. My brother said it looks like a ballon that hasn't been used yet.

I'm too late!

Yeah, that very much describes yesterday. I discovered this yarn store near Hamburgwolland. It carries dyeable yarn, so I decided to visit it before I go to campus. I *thought* that it wasn't that much away from the campus...yeah, thought...
Anyway, I went from home at 11.00 and after a 40 min drive, when I was almost there, I remembered that they close at 12.00! Darn, how could I forget? I also couldn't speed, because I know there are a couple of speed cameras. When I arrived it was 5 minutes before 12.00. I entered the store and asked politely when they closed. The woman was really nice and said that they normally close at 12.00(hmm I didn't know that ;-) ) , but that she has to sort out things anyway, so I could take a look.
Wow, this store is really nice with a rather large selection on hand-dyed yarn.
After wandering in it for far too long, I brought these two hanks of natural wool(5€ total) and two mags for 1€ each. Ok, I admit it, I brought more, but I'm thinking of sending it to my SP5-recipient, so I can't post it.

When I paid, I took a look at my swatch...12.30! I have to be on campus at 12.45!
What should I say, I was too late again! I had computer lab and thanks to our *nice* instructor, me and my lab partner have to go there again on tuesday to complete the tasks...Arghhh!

I also finished my branching out yesterday. Here it is still unblocked:

I know the pattern now by heart. After the first half of this scarf I didn't had to look at the chart anymore. I'm currently searching for another pattern similare to this one.

Ah, and I totally forgot to post about the RAK I received. She really must think I'm an ungrateful a**. Anyway, I received a UK knitting magazine from AmyP. Thank you!
